Where can I find the Vehicle Identification Number for my Lincoln?

You can typically find your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in your vehicle and its documents, or using your SYNC®* screen, the Lincoln Way App**, or your Lincoln Account.

Note: The letters I, O, and Q are not included in a VIN to avoid confusion with the numbers 1 (One) and 0 (Zero).

Locating Your Vehicle's VIN

Select the method you are using from the drop-down options below to discover how to locate your VIN:

Vehicle or Documents

You may find your VIN on your:

  • Driver's side doorjamb.
  • Windshield (lower, driver's side corner).
  • Vehicle documentation (e.g., registration, insurance policy, and lease contract).

Note: The VIN location varies by model for vehicles made in 1967 or older. You may find the VIN on the driver's side doorjamb, inside the glove compartment, on the right-hand dash panel, or on the top left-hand side of the frame between the steering gearbox and firewall.

SYNC Screen

To locate your VIN using your SYNC system (if equipped):

  1. Press Settings on the in-vehicle SYNC screen.
  2. Press General.
  3. Select About SYNC.

Lincoln Way App

To locate your VIN using your Lincoln Way App:

  1. Log in to the Lincoln Way App.
  2. Select a vehicle.
  3. Press Vehicle Details.
  4. Scroll down and choose Vehicle Details.

Lincoln Account

To locate your VIN using your Lincoln Account:

  1. Log in to your Account on Lincolncanada.com.
  2. Press on My Lincoln in the top right corner.
  3. Tap on Register/Sign In.
  4. Select a vehicle. 

The VIN will be displayed on the vehicle dashboard.

*Availability varies by model. Some mobile phones and some digital media players may not be fully compatible. Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control. Only use SYNC® systems/other devices, even with voice commands, when it is safe to do so. SYNC® voice recognition and screens available in English, French and Spanish. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in motion gear. Optional Navigation system map updates cannot be received via Wi-Fi and requires a separate update. Data rates may apply.
