How do I use MyKey with my Lincoln?
MyKey®* allows you to program keys with restricted driving modes to promote good driving habits. You can program the restrictions for all keys except one. Any keys that you did not program are administrator (admin) keys.
You can use admin keys to create, program, and remove a MyKey.

Learning MyKey Settings
MyKey Standard Settings
Not every vehicle includes the features listed below. If your vehicle has this equipment, you cannot change the following settings when using a MyKey:
- Seatbelt reminder or Belt-Minder™: MyKey mutes the audio system until drivers, and in some instances, passengers, fasten their seatbelts.
- Earlier low-fuel warning: The low-fuel warning activates earlier, giving you more time to refuel.
Certain driver alerts, stability systems, or parking aids: MyKey turns them on automatically. For example, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert*, Lane Keeping System*, or forward collision warning*.
Note: You may be able to turn the Lane Keeping System feature off, but this feature turns back on automatically with every new key cycle.
- Restricted touchscreen operation: For example, MyKey may prevent manual navigation destination input while the vehicle is in any gear other than park (P) or when the vehicle reaches a certain rate of speed.
- Screened radio content: Satellite radio adult content restrictions, if this feature is available in your market.
MyKey Optional Settings
You can configure certain vehicle feature settings when you first create a MyKey and then change them with an admin key.
Note: Not every feature applies to every vehicle in every market. When they are available for your vehicle, they will appear on your information display, providing choices to switch them on or off, or to select a more specific setting.
- Various vehicle speed limits so that you cannot exceed certain speeds: The information display shows warnings followed by an audible tone when the MyKey driver reaches the set speed. You cannot override the set speed by fully depressing the accelerator pedal.
- Various vehicle speed reminders, so you know when your vehicle speed approaches the limits: Warnings appear in your information display and a tone sounds when you exceed the set vehicle speed.
- Audio system's maximum volume limits to 45%: MyKey drivers can concentrate on the road. A message appears in the information display when you attempt to exceed the limited volume. MyKey also disables the automatic volume control.
- Always On setting: This setting forces certain features to remain on and active. For example, E911 or emergency assistance and the do not disturb features stay on even if you use the feature's control to switch it off. When selected, you will not be able to turn off Advance Trac or traction control, if equipped.
Creating a MyKey
To create a MyKey with the information display or your vehicle's SYNC®** screen (if equipped):
- Choose which of your keys will become your MyKey. The other will become an admin key.
- Insert the key you want to program into the ignition. If your vehicle is equipped with a push-button start, place the intelligent access key fob into the backup slot.
- Start your vehicle.
Create a MyKey:
Using the Information Display Using the Vehicle's SYNC Screen (if equipped) - Select Settings.
- Select MyKey.
- Select Create MyKey.
- Hold the OK button until you see a message prompting you to label the key as a MyKey.
- Press Settings.
- Tap Vehicle.
- Touch MyKey.
- Select Create MyKey.
- Turn off your vehicle. The key will be restricted the next time it is used to start the vehicle.
Note: Make sure to label the MyKey, so you can distinguish it from the admin keys.
Programming a MyKey
You can configure some vehicle feature settings when you first create a MyKey. You can change the settings afterward with an admin key.
To program a MyKey:
- Switch the ignition on using an admin key.
- Tab through the information display using the OK or the > button on the steering wheel:
- Select Settings.
- Select MyKey.
- Make your selections.
- Turn off the engine and remove the key fob. The programmed restrictions apply when you turn off the vehicle, open and close the driver's door, and restart your vehicle with the programmed key.
Notes:
- All MyKeys are programmed to the same settings. They cannot be programmed individually.
- MyKey functionality may vary with some models. Refer to your Owner's Manual for information specific to your vehicle.
- For vehicles equipped with a push-button start, when both a MyKey and an admin key are present, the vehicle will defer to the admin key's settings when switching on the vehicle.
Clearing MyKey Settings
You can use the information display or your vehicle's SYNC** screen (if equipped) to clear your MyKey settings.
Important:
- You can clear or change your MyKey settings as long as you do not turn off the vehicle after you create the MyKey.
- Once you turn the vehicle off, you will need an admin key to change or clear your MyKey settings. If you do not have an admin key, you will need to purchase a new key from your Lincoln Retailer or Ford Dealer. See Replacing a Lost Key.
