What do I do if the Active Park Assist feature is not working in my Lincoln?
You can find possible reasons why your vehicle's Active Park Assist* feature may not be functioning properly in this article.
Active Park Assist Troubleshooting
Select your Active Park Assist issue from the drop-down options below to learn what may be causing it.
System Unable to Detect a Vehicle, Curb, or Object to Park By
Possible causes Active Park Assist is not able to find a parking space:
- There is not enough room for your vehicle.
- The traction control is off.
System Not Searching for Parking Space
Possible causes Active Park Assist is not searching for a parking space:
- The traction control is off.
- The transmission is in Reverse (R). Your vehicle must be moving forward to be able to detect a parking space.
System Not Offering a Parking Space
Possible causes Active Park Assist is not showing you a parking space:
- The sensors may be blocked (e.g., snow, ice, or dirt buildup). Blocked sensors can affect how the system functions.
- There is not enough room in the parking space for your vehicle to safely park.
- There is not enough space for the parking manoeuvre on the opposite side of the parking space.
- The parking space is more than 5 ft or less than 2 ft away.
- The vehicle speed is greater than 22 mph or 35 km/h for parallel parking or greater than 19 mph or 30 km/h for perpendicular parking.
- You recently disconnected or replaced the battery. After you reconnect the battery, you must drive your vehicle on a straight road for a short time.
System Not Correctly Positioning Vehicle in a Parking Space
Possible causes Active Park Assist is not positioning your vehicle correctly in a parking space:
- Your vehicle is rolling in the opposite direction of the current transmission position (e.g., rolling forward when in Reverse [R]).
- An irregular curb along the parking space prevents the system from correctly aligning your vehicle.
- Vehicles or objects bordering the space may not be correctly parked.
- Your vehicle stopped too far past the parking space.
- The tires may not be correctly installed or maintained (e.g., not inflated correctly, improper size, or of different sizes).
- A repair or alteration changes the detection capabilities.
- A parked vehicle has a high attachment (e.g., salt sprayer, snowplow, or moving truck bed).
- The parking space length or position of parked objects changes after your vehicle passes the space.
- The temperature around your vehicle quickly changes (e.g., driving from a heated garage into the cold, or after leaving a car wash).
If you have addressed the possible reasons your Active Park Assist may not be working and you are still experiencing issues, contact your Lincoln Retailer. If a retailer is not available in your area, contact your preferred Ford Dealer.
