How do I change the automatic Software Update* settings with SYNC 4®**?
You can adjust your SYNC 4 Software Update settings using your SYNC touchscreen or the Lincoln Way®† App.
Notes:
- Your vehicle will arrive with Automatic Updates enabled. Lincoln recommends keeping Automatic Updates turned on for the best ownership experience.

Changing the Automatic Software Update Settings
Important: Ensure your vehicle is on and running in a well-ventilated area, and is in Park (P).
Select the method you are using from the drop-down options below to learn how to adjust your Software Update settings.
Notes:
- If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.
- Actual screens may vary. See your Owner’s Manual for information specific to your vehicle.
Identifying Your Lincoln's SYNC Generation
Two resources to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation are the:
- SYNC and Navigation Updates page. Either:
- Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for update.
Log in with your Lincoln credentials, choose a vehicle from your garage, and select Check for updates.
Note: Your SYNC generation will appear on the right-hand side of the page.

On Your SYNC 4 Screen
To change the automatic Software Update settings with SYNC 4:
- Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select System Updates.
- Toggle Automatic Updates On or Off.
Note:
- If both Automatic Updates and Notifications are off, your vehicle will not receive any updates.
- If Automatic Updates are off, but your Notifications are on, you will not receive Software Updates automatically. You will be prompted to accept the updates.
On Your Lincoln Way App
To change the automatic Software Update settings on your Lincoln Way App:
- Log in to the App.
- Tap the Vehicle tab at the bottom.
- Select Software Updates.
- Toggle Automatic Updates On or Off.
