How do I adjust the navigation volume with SYNC®*?

To adjust your Lincoln's SYNC Navigation volume, identify your SYNC generation and follow the instructions listed below. You can also find information specific to your vehicle in your Owner's Manual

Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation

Use the following resources to help identify your SYNC generation:

  • The SYNC and Navigation Updates page allows you to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), or log in with your Lincoln credentials and select Check for update. Your SYNC generation will appear on the right-hand side of the page.

    Note: The SYNC software update version displayed under "Current Software Version" is the latest one reported to Lincoln. We recommend using your in-vehicle SYNC system to see your system's current software version.

Adjusting Route Guidance Prompt Volume

The navigation volume can only be adjusted while the navigation is in use.

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to change your SYNC Navigation prompt volume:

Note: Instructions may vary. Refer to your Owner's Manual for information specific to your vehicle. 

SYNC 4

To adjust the navigation prompt volume with SYNC 4:

Change the volume while a guidance prompt is playing by either:

  • Using the volume controls on your steering wheel (Vol+ or Vol-).
  • Turning the audio volume control knob located on the centre console.

Note: Navigation voice prompts cannot be enabled or disabled. They are always "on." However, the volume of the prompts can be adjusted.

SYNC 3

To adjust the navigation prompt volume with SYNC 3:

Step 1: Enable the navigation voice prompts.

  1. Press Settings.
  2. Select Navigation.
  3. Choose Navigation Preferences
  4. Set Guidance Prompts to Voice and Tones.

Step 2: Adjust the navigation voice volume.

  1. Wait for the navigation voice to begin speaking.
  2. Before the voice finishes giving directions, adjust the volume using one of the following options:
    • Using the volume controls on your steering wheel (Vol+ or Vol-).
    • Turning the audio volume control knob located on the centre console.

Note: The SYNC voice that you interact with when controlling climate, phone, entertainment, and media devices can be adjusted separately from the Navigation System voice that guides turn-by-turn directions.

SYNC with MyLincoln Touch®

To adjust the navigation prompt volume using SYNC with MyLincoln Touch:

Step 1: Enable the navigation voice prompts.

  1. Tap the Gear icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Press Navigation.
  4. Choose Navigation Preferences.
  5. Set Guidance Prompts to Voice and Tones.

Step 2: Adjust the navigation voice volume.

  1. Start a route on your navigation system.
  2. Press the Repeat Last Step icon in the top right (circle arrow next to Menu).
  3. While the system is providing route guidance, turn the volume knob to your desired level.

SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation

To adjust the navigation prompt volume using SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation:

Step 1: Enable the navigation prompts.

  1. Press the Nav hard button.
  2. Select Navigation Prefs on the left side.
  3. Set the Guidance Prompts settings to Voice.

Step 2: Adjust the navigation voice volume.

  1. Press the Menu hard button.
  2. Select Feedback Settings on the left side.
  3. Adjust the Voice Volume setting to the desired level.

SYNC P Navigation

To adjust the navigation prompt volume using SYNC P Navigation:

  1. Press the Menu hard button.
  2. Select Feedback on the top row of the display screen.
  3. Set the Navigation Guidance option to ON.
  4. Adjust the Voice Volume selection as needed.

    Note: Selecting Test will send out a sound at the current volume level.
