How do I change the SYNC®* system language?
You can change the language of your SYNC system using the instructions and translations contained in this article.
Updating the SYNC System Language
Important: Ensure that your vehicle is on and running in a well-ventilated area, and is in Park (P).
Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to modify your SYNC language settings.
Notes:
- If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.
- Actual screens may vary. See your Owner’s Manual for information specific to your vehicle.
Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation
Two resources to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation are the:
- SYNC and Navigation Updates page. Either:
- Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for update.
Log in with your Lincoln credentials, choose a vehicle from your garage, and select Check for updates.
Note: Your SYNC generation will appear on the right-hand side of the page.

SYNC 4
To change the language with SYNC 4:
- Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select General.
- Use the arrow to choose your language (English, Français, or Español).

To change the language with SYNC with MyLincoln Touch:
- Press Menu (gear icon) on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select Settings.
- Press System.
- Choose your language (English, Français, or Español).

- Press the Menu hard button.
- Select System Settings on the screen.

- Press the Menu hard button.
- Select Feedback on the screen.

To change the language with SYNC Gen 1.1:
- Press Menu.
- Scroll down to Display Settings, and press OK.
- Scroll to languages, and press OK.

SYNC Gen 1
To change the language using SYNC Gen 1:
- Press Aux repeatedly until SYNC appears.
- Press Menu. Media Menu will momentarily appear in the radio display.
- Scroll repeatedly until System Settings appears in the radio display.
- Press OK to confirm and enter the System Settings menu.
- Scroll until Advanced appears in the radio display.
- Press OK to confirm and enter the Advanced menu.
- Scroll repeatedly until Language appears in the radio display.
- Press OK to enter the Language menu.
- Scroll to choose your language (English, Français, or Español).
