How do I find my Lincoln vehicle's Electronic Serial Number?
You can locate your Electronic Serial Number (ESN) with your SYNC®*/Lincoln Digital Experience system using the instructions contained in this article.
You may need your ESN when contacting SiriusXM®**, or when attempting to update your SYNC Navigation maps.
Locating your ESN
Important: Ensure your vehicle is on and running in a well-ventilated area and in Park (P).
Based on your vehicle's touchscreen display, select Digital Experience or the SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to find your vehicle's ESN. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.
Note: Actual screens and instructions may vary. See your Owner’s Manual for information specific to your vehicle.
Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation
There are two resources to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation:

Lincoln Digital Experience
Digital Experience has three different ESNs.
- The Infotainment ESN starts with "1SE."
- The Onboard Modem ESN starts with "1TR."
- The Sirius ESN is referred to as the "SiriusXM Radio ID."
To locate your ESN using Digital Experience:
- Tap the Apps icon or the Vehicle icon on your Lincoln Digital Experience screen.
- Select Settings.
- Swipe up on the Settings menu and select System.
- Swipe up the System menu and select About infotainment system.
- Scroll up or down the list to view the appropriate ESN:
- Infotainment serial number (ESN)
- SiriusXM radio ID
- Onboard modem serial number
SYNC 4
SYNC 4 has two different ESNs:
- The ESN for SiriusXM and for navigation maps are different.
- The ESN for SiriusXM should start with a V or a W.
Locating the ESN for SYNC Navigation Map Updates
- Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select General.
- Choose About SYNC.
- Scroll down until you see SYNC Serial Number (ESN).
Locating the ESN for SiriusXM
- Tune to channel "0" on SiriusXM on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select SXM Now Playing.
- Scroll to and select Help and Support.
SYNC 3
SYNC 3 has two different ESNs.
- The ESN for SYNC Navigation map updates should start with a "V" or a "W."
- The ESN for SiriusXM is also called the "Radio ID Number" and the "SiriusXM Radio ID."
Locating the ESN for SYNC Navigation Map Updates
- Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select General Settings.
- Choose About SYNC.
Note: If you have a 2016 model year vehicle and the SYNC Navigation map ESN does not display, update to SYNC software version 3.0 or newer.
Locating the ESN for SiriusXM
- Option 1
- Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Choose Sirius.
- Option 2
- Tap Audio on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select Sirius.
- Tune the Satellite Radio to channel "0".
SYNC with MyLincoln Touch®
SYNC with MyFord Touch has two different ESNs.
- The ESN for SYNC Navigation map updates should start with a "V" or a "W."
- The ESN for SiriusXM is also called the "Radio ID Number" and the "SiriusXM Radio ID."
Locating the ESN for SYNC Navigation Map Updates
- Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select Help.
- Choose System Info. The ESN will be displayed on the System Info screen.
Locating the ESN for SiriusXM
Tune to channel "0" on your SYNC system. The ESN will display on your screen.
SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation
SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation has two different ESNs.
- The ESN for SYNC Navigation map updates should start with a "V" or a "W."
- The ESN for SiriusXM is also called the "Radio ID Number" and the "SiriusXM Radio ID."
Next-Generation Navigation
- Press the Info button, which is a lowercase "i" with a square around it.
- Tap System Info on your vehicle's touchscreen to view your ESN.
Navigation "P" Version
- Press the Menu button on the left side of the screen.
- Tap System Information.
- Use the arrows on the touchscreen to locate the ESN.
SYNC Gen 1
SYNC Gen 1 has two different ESNs.
- The ESN for SYNC Navigation map updates should start with a "V" or a "W."
- The ESN for SiriusXM is also called the "Radio ID Number" and the "SiriusXM Radio ID."
Locating the ESN for SYNC Navigation Map Updates
- Press the Menu button on your vehicle's SYNC system.
- Use the up and down arrows to scroll through the menu options until you see System Info.
- Click Ok.
- Use the up and down arrows to locate the ESN.
Locating the ESN for SiriusXM
Simultaneously press and hold the Sirius and Preset 1 buttons on your vehicle's SYNC system to view the ESN.
